I'm starting a free mail club for my neighborhood
All I've done is think about the projects I want to do. There's a graveyard in my brain of all my creative endeavors. I'm lucky if they ever get past the initial planning stage before they inevitably die.
That started to change this past week. I set out to stay on top of healthier habits, and all in all, I've done pretty well. I'm not a place where hobbies and interests go to die. With a little experimentation and the right environment, I'm capable of so many things. One of those things is a mail club.
My overthinking gives me all the reasons in the world not to pursue it:
- No funds
- Not skilled in art
- No online audience
- No initial materials
I let this thinking justify why I should make YouTube playlist after YouTube playlist planning everything out for later. I finally broke out of this mindset, and I'm making it work as I go.
My resources include:
- Over 100 colored pieces of A4 paper
- Over 100 pieces of plain-white A4 paper
- my family's printer
- and free digital software on my pc
My plan is to turn colored paper I have in my house into envelopes, and use my regular A4 copy paper to print the letters! I also have a plan to put some cool visuals on the envelopes to make the package enticing. The theme is:

I'm going to print a letter explaining the importance of getting media recs from an actual person rather than what a platform wants you to watch. It'll come with a zine full of indie games, YouTube videos, and website recommendations (likely blogs and personal sites).
This may not be attractive to the average person in the house, but even like 5 people enjoying it will put a smile on my face. Also, it's a fun way to find people I have things in common with who live near me! I'll be leaving my email for contact somewhere inside.
